However, the V6 engine gets an eTorque mild-hybrid system, adding 90 lb-ft of additional launch torque to help you with take-offs during towing. Mating with the V6 engine is a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that’s quite responsive and your choice between rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive drivetrains. Also, an optional offering that you can opt for is a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine that enhances capability and output, giving you 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
Towing Capacity
With the standard V6 engine and rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, the Ram 1500 Big Horn can tow a maximum of 7,710 pounds, which is more than enough for meeting various towing applications. Opting for the four-wheel-drive drivetrain reduces the V6 engine’s towing capacity to 7,460 pounds. For maximum towing power from the Ram 1500 Big Horn, you will want to upgrade to the optional V8 engine that lets you tow 12,750 pounds when properly equipped.
