Chrysler Grand Caravan vs Honda Odyssey

When it comes to trying to find the perfect vehicle for the family, many people can have a very specific list of criteria that must be met. And for over 30 years, the Grand Caravan has been the number one choice for millions of families around the country. The Grand Caravan is not only spacious and luxurious, but it is also practical and comes with a wide range of special features that help to make your day a little easier.

One of the Chrysler Grand Caravan's biggest competitors is the Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey also comes with a wide range of advanced features and can seat up to eight passengers. To help you decide which vehicle would be right for you, here is an in-depth comparison of the Chrysler Grand Caravan and the Honda Odyssey.

What's New for This Year?

The Grand Caravan first hit the market in the mid-'80s. Since that time, the Grand Caravan has evolved quite a bit. Today, the Grand Caravan has all of the modern features that you would expect to find in a vehicle today. Likewise, the Odyssey also has received several upgrades this year to help ensure that it is both practical and comfortable. Here is a look at some of the exciting new features that you can expect to find on both of these vehicles.

Chrysler Grand Caravan

This year, the Grand Caravan offers a Blacktop Appearance package on the SXT and SE Plus trims. With this package, the Grand Caravan receives black-painted 17-inch wheels as well as black-painted rear fascia, grille, and scuff pads. There are also black headlamp bezels for a bolder look. In addition to the appearance package, other trim levels receive an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat as well as second-row captain's seats. It is also worth noting that this is the last year that Dodge produced this vehicle. The Grand Caravan is still around and still comes equipped with a list of impressive features, but it now has the Chrysler name instead of Dodge.

Honda Odyssey

This year, the Honda Odyssey offers a new 25th Anniversary package that adds chrome accents to the exterior as well as 19-inch alloy wheels. Every trim level also comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Other than those few things, the Odyssey did not see many updates this year.

Power and Performance Comparison

The Grand Caravan comes standard with a 3.6-litre V6 engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and delivers up to 283 horsepower.

The Odyssey also offers only one engine this year. The standard 3.5-litre V6 is only able to deliver up to 280 horsepower and provides slower acceleration rates than the Chrysler Grand Caravan offers.
