Substance Over Style - The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic

Choosing substance over style is not a bad thing, as evidenced by the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic. It is a great choice for drivers in Lindsay that want a new pickup truck but can live without the fancy extras and increased price. With the 1500 Classic, drivers can see that the latest and greatest is not always better.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic

The Ram 1500 Classic is the previous generation of the Ram 1500. When it was redesigned four years ago, Ram kept the previous model and turned it into the Classic. And there is obviously some demand for it, as it continues to sell well in Lindsay and across Canada, and Ram continues to offer it in its model lineup.

However, the Classic is more than simply a great deal in the highly competitive truck segment. While it is not as fancy and does not offer as much customisation as the newest Ram 1500, it still offers multiple options for cabin size, bed length, powertrain, and drivetrain.

Capability

The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic is engineered to perform with two different powertrain options. The standard engine is a 3.6-litre VVT V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque while the available 5.7-litre HEMI VVT V8 is extremely capable with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The Ram 1500 Classic also offers a part-time four-wheel-drive system that includes front drive axle disconnect for improved fuel efficiency when 4WD is not needed.

When it comes to towing, trailering, and payload, the Ram 1500 Classic delivers on all of its promises. It can tow up wo 4,813kg and haul up to 875kg of payload when properly equipped. Being an older generation does not mean that the Ram 1500 Classic is lacking in power.

Models and Pricing

While Ram has yet to announce pricing for the 2022 1500 Classic model in Canada, very few changes are expected for the 2022 model year. Right now, the Ram 1500 Classic is offered in Lindsay and across Canada in five models: Tradesman, Express, SLT, Night Edition, and Warlock.

Starting at $28,440, the Tradesman model provides capability with its 3.6-litre V6 engine, vinyl front bench seat, and Uconnect 3 multimedia system.

Starting at $33,940, the SLT model adds exterior updates such as chrome bumpers and grille, tech features such as remote keyless entry, and interior enhancements such as premium door trim panel with map pockets.

Starting at $39,830, the Night Edition adds both technology--Uconnect 4 multimedia system with 8.4-inch touchscreen--and appearance--gloss-black 20-inch aluminum wheels, grille, and black inserts--upgrades.
