The Dodge Stealth could replace the Durango

The Dodge Stealth could replace the Durango

With the arrival of the Hornet and the imminent departure of the Challenger and Charger, it can be said that the Dodge brand is about to undergo one of the most radical transformations in its history. Even the Durango is about to retire to make way for an all-new three-row SUV, the Stealth.

If this name sounds familiar to you, it\’s because it can also be associated with a sports car offered by the American manufacturer in the 90s. The Stealth had its twin, the 3000 GT from Mitsubishi. As it\’s trendy nowadays, this past name will resurface in the form of a hybrid SUV at Dodge.

Why not a new generation?

The third-generation Dodge Durango arrived on the market in 2011, and it took several years before the American manufacturer\’s SUV experienced some success. In fact, it became especially popular with its last aesthetic redesign and with the arrival of the SRT Hellcat version. Thus, the Dodge Durango became associated with performance, and that\’s precisely the problem.

Even if the American manufacturer hasn\’t confirmed it, I strongly feel that it\’s out of necessity rather than choice that the Durango name will be retired. It is simply easier for the brand to offer a new hybrid model than to change the concept of the Durango from a performance SUV to a hybrid SUV.

2025

According to rumors circulating on the web and Motor Trend magazine, the Dodge Durango will be replaced by the Dodge Stealth next year. Thus, the new American manufacturer\’s SUV would hit the market in 2024 as a 2025 model.

Hybrid powertrains are making their way to three-row SUVs, and it would be the perfect time for Dodge to present us with a new vehicle in this category. Although the current Durango is highly appreciated, its platform is one of the oldest on the market, having been around for over 12 years. A little change never hurts.

A new Durango

If you are a Durango enthusiast, rest assured that it might not be the end for the American manufacturer\’s SUV. Its name could also be used for the creation of a new vehicle. This time, it would be a larger SUV that could borrow its platform from an existing model in the Stellantis family. You might have guessed that I am talking about the Jeep Wagoneer.
